Il Mecenate
This charming, slightly out-of-the-way restaurant (a relative term when you consider that Lucca can be crossed from one end to the other in less than 20 minutes...) offers cuisine that is almost exclusively "kilometer 0". On the first pages of the menu, you'll find the addresses of the restaurant's suppliers. Excellent homemade Testarolli with pesto (a type of fresh pasta quite rare in Italy, reminiscent of French crêpes in a creamy version), but also an excellent beef tagliatelle, delicious Tordelli (a Lucca specialty), a plate of local cheeses, etc. The restaurant has a lovely terrace on piazza San Francesco.
